Gossiping about celebrities should be considered the national pastime as we do it so much. And most of our chatter is about how stupid and dumb they are (Kanye West and Kim Kardashian anyone?). But hold on a minute here, yes, while celebs these days are famous mostly for doing absolutely idiotic things, when it comes to relationships (some of them anyway), they’ve gotten the bright idea to open them up. See, they know what science has known for decades now, but for some reason the masses have yet to caught up to – and that’s that we’re not built for monogamy. In fact, very few animals are – much less us humans. Heck, we needn’t look much further than all the cheating that’s going on these days (Iggy Azalea and Nick Young anybody?), along with all the traditional celebrity divorces to see that monogamy just isn’t our species’ thing. More and more many celebs are instead, finding a better solution to coupling up, and doing so in a way that keeps the romance alive. And they do it by opening up their relationship and marriage. Should your relationship be on the rocks or your marriage headed down the divorce aisle, and you haven’t tried letting your partner or spouse play a bit on the side, then check out these celebs who are leading the way in the most modern way to couple up – by opening up!

Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green

So the first couple out of the gate is not the most ideal one in terms of “equality”, as Megan – who is not just the higher earner, but also wears the pants in the relationship – as the terms of engagement for her is that she’s allowed to have her cake and eat it too, while Brian can’t even breathe around another women. Unfair? Sure. But it’s working for them as they’re still together.

Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel

This happy couple have been married for only a little while. But when Justin and Jessica first started out, they both agreed it’d be an open relationship. Only when they finally tied the knot did they close the doors, keeping it between just the two of them. Often this makes sense, especially when young kids are involved (like in their situation), where resentment can build pretty quick if diapers are being changed, while the other person’s out having a quicky.

Will Smith & Jada Smith

This one surprised even us, but yes, Hollywood darlings and celebrity “It” couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are in an open relationship. Well, technically. Will gives Jada permission to be with other men (if she feels the need to), to which she says she doesn’t act on it. It’s amazing how when you restrict people’s freedom, they fight for it – but when you give it – they don’t take advantage of it. Lesson learned thanks to the Smith family.

Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgens

Totally different than their on-screen love affair, when Zac revealed to Vanessa that he refuses to settle down until he’s at least 40, she replied by allowing him to have his fun on the side. It worked for a while, but in their case, it soon ended as the jealously became too much for Vanessa. Cut them some slack though, they’re still very young. And opening up one’s marriage takes a ton of maturity.

T-Pain & Amber Najm

This hit rapper and his wife have been together for over 10 years now. And in the rap world, believe us – that’s a lifetime. The secret to their success, T-Pain insists, is keeping it open. Which makes sense and is probably for the best given that cheating in the rap community is about as common as sneezing.

Larry King & Shawn Southwick

When you’ve been married 7 times over, like King has, sometimes you need to change things up. And opening his marriage was one of them. This was all that King could do to make his 8th marriage last, as infidelity was an issue in his previous seven.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus & Brad Hall

After hearing her attitudes on relationships, at least as Elaine Benes on “Seinfeld”, it’s not too surprising that Julia’s marriage to Brad Hall is an open one. While they’ve never confirmed this – neither has denied it either. And, well, as the saying goes “No news is good news”, as this couple’s been extremely happily married for over 30 years now.
