Being a parent is a full-time job – with overtime! So when most parents have to work a job (also with overtime), parenting can be overwhelming. Thankfully, life is full of hacks that make a parent’s job a little easier. Or, in the case of these food hacks we have here; tastier, quicker, simpler – better!
Keeping your kids interested in meals is no easy task. So why not take their favorite (pancakes) and crank up the fun? Simply turn pancakes into pancake pops by pouring a little less batter, and placing a toothpick or stir stick in the middle while frying. No more having to beg the kids to come to the table with these!
Kids love tacos, but many parents hate them because of the mess they make just to prepare them. So instead, take your favorite taco ingredients (chicken, cheese, salsa, sliced avocado) and toss them into a bag. Then, instead of using taco shells, break out a snack sized bag of Fritos, dipping and scooping them one-by-one into your taco mix bag. Simple, easy, and clean!
Ziplocked Ice Cream
Nothing is worse than freezer-burned ice cream. It tastes horrible and, scooping it out takes minutes – instead of seconds. So take a minute will you and put your ice cream into a ziplock bag. For some scientific reason, it keeps it as soft as the day you bought it.
Hawaiian Grilled Sliders
Got a big family? Then stop buying individual buns, making one at a time. Get yourself the Hawaiian Bread brand that has all the buns attached together. Then simply cut them all in half, fill them up with ham and cheese, grill – and voilà – you’ve got Hawaiian grilled sliders in an instant!
Pre-Cut Your Meat
This one’s a no-brainer; but we waste a ton of meat because we often don’t end up using all of it before it expires, or becomes freezer-burned. So get into the habit of cutting up your meat in single-sized portions before freezing.
Salad In A Jar
Mason jars are gods gift to food storage. Most people use them for sauces, but their air-tight feature is perfect for preventing salads from wilting and getting soggy.
No Mess Bacon
Aside from chocolate, nothing is more craved than bacon. What isn’t savored is the mess it makes. This is because most fry bacon in its own grease – which splatters and spills everywhere. So instead, set your oven to medium high, and place your bacon on top of a grill, overtop of a pan that the grease can neatly spill into.
Cookie Cut Your Breakfast
Looking for another way to fun up your breakfast? Throw your eggs or batter into cookie cutters placed in a pan. It makes for a much more attractive, and fun presentation.
Plant Your Asparagus
Asparagus is known for going bad in a hurry. So simply re-plant them. Take the all-amazing mason jar, fill it a quarter of the way up with water, and throw your asparagus in there at room temperature. Now you can enjoy your favorite veggie longer.
Kids love potato chips, but responsible parents hate them. Why? Because they’re full of unhealthy additives and chemicals, obviously. So instead, make your own. All that’s required is a baking sheet, foil paper, and an oven. Just pop them in at high temps, sprinkle with your favorite toppings (salt, chilies, kale), and take them out once crisp. Enjoy!
